Wow

Four years! I haven't posted on this blog in four years...that's so weird to me. For those who care (and as I've only got one follower that apparently isn't many) I am actually still alive. My kid is getting ready to graduate high school, I just graduated University and soon I will hopefully have a new position in my place of employment that will open up new doors for me in the future. Now however, I need to go get dressed and ready to go to my nephew's last baseball game.

A quickie

I am sitting here attempting to eat some Fig Newmans (they are like Fig Newtons...but organic) and I am wondering why the hell they shove so many in a tray section. I had the hardest time getting the first one out...they need to fix that.

Thursday Morning Starbucks Christers

So here I was going in to Raley's to get lunch for the day. It was early...and cold (not cold so much as mucking freezing! well freezing for Northern California) and on my way back to my car low and behold a very nice older woman comes striding across the parking lot. She was heading my way and all I thought was "crap, it's Thursday!". I had forgotten that the Raley's by my house is not a safe place for those like me on Thursday Morning. I had forgotten about the Thursday Morning Christers who hang out at Starbucks and litterally chase people to their cars asking if they would like a little something to read. I guess calling them Christers is not exactly appropriate...maybe Jehovahs. I think that is what they are but I try not to dally and encourage them to "show me the way". I of course simply said no thank you. No point in giving them false hope and even stars forbid encouraging them! My advice to everyone who wants to try and push their religion/beliefs on someone else...don't. Those around you may not appreciate it while you aren't doing it, but it is certain they will hate it when you do and you may lose a friend over it. So share your thoughts, feelings, religion, beliefs...cult fetishes, whatever! Just don't try to shove it down someone's throat and make them follow your path.

Now for those of you who know me and are worried that I wasn't going to Starbucks, fear not my friends! I got my fix at Raley's cafe. Next Thursday...I'm going to Safeway. At least they have a Starbucks inside and no "literature" outside!

Things that seem like a good idea at the time...

Have you ever looked at one of your exes and thought "what the hell was I thinking?!?". I had that moment today. It was pretty bad...I'm very glad that my daughter only got the tall and thin thing from her sperm donor cause that man is not even a little bit attractive. Of course I could always delude myself into thinking he wasn't thinking the same thing about me but of course he probably was. Difference is...my thoughts have sound reasoning, his are just mean :)

And today when I picked Sammie Sam up from school her little friend (little...the guy is bigger than me and only 13. not that it is hard to be bigger than me) crouched down by the car to say hi and went "whoa!". Sam wouldn't let him finish...she promptly said "shut up!". She could not however stop him from texting that she looked exactly like her mother....I'm going to say that was a compliment to me since this kid likes Sam. However, I will not be playing the role of Mrs. Robinson at any point in this lifetime...not a good look for me.

Gay Marriage

I'm not big on the news, but it is kind of hard to escape this headline. Congrats to all those gay couples that can now legally marry in California. I love this state! First of all...I'm not gay, secondly I had a lot of friends growing up that were, so it doesn't bother me in the least! Hell, most of the time I prefer gay company, at least then you can go out and have a good time and not worry about your "friend" trying to get in your pants. But I digress, yay for them! I mean I know that in six months the Christers will probably get it turned over but until then I see very busy bridal boutiques. Here is my argument for gay marriage.

1. We heterosexuals haven't exactly got the best marriage success rate! Hello...who the hell are we to tell someone they shouldn't get married. In my personal opinion all marriage should be outlawed...it is slow torture that leaves one wishing for death. I'm not against falling in love...but how can you promise to love someone to the end of your life? That is not a logical promise! You can't guarantee that your feelings today will be the same as they are in 20 years. Divorce was much less common when marriage was done for benefits other than love. I'm not saying that love shouldn't be a factor, but it certainly shouldn't be the only one.

2. It is not a political issue. It is a moral issue and even then it is a personal moral issue. Everyone has different morals, some are way off base. But this should not be something that is so politically controversial because the ones against it are the Christers and don't we have something called "separation of church and state" in this country? It is the same with abortion. If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one. But don't punish those who do believe in and act on abortion. Same with gay marriage, if you don't believe in gay marriage don't marry someone of the same gender as you. Problem solved...move along.

3. I think that homosexual couples have just as much right to be miserable as heterosexual couples. I think that they should be allowed to adopt children without any problems and they should be "allowed" in the military. Sexual orientation has no bearing on the ability to do any of those things. There are tons of straight people who are shitty parents (like the guy who locked his daughter in the basement for 20 years and raped her and made her have incest babies...hello??? How is that "good parenting"?) and being gay does not affect your motor functions, you can still shoot a gun! And they will just look better doing it because face it...All the hot guys are either gay, taken or not interested! But eye candy is always appreciated.

Christers

I love Christers...they always make me feel better about myself. I am a secure person. Secure in my outlook, my sexuality and certainly my lack of religion. I almost enjoy it when people tell me "you're wrong about your path" and silly little things like "Jesus loves you". I mean what is it with people. I have a theory (get ready)... the people who try to push their religion down other peoples throats, are very unsure that they are right. They may spout that their way is the right and their God is the right God, but I wonder who they are trying to convince? Is it really "others" or are they trying to convince themselves. Are they trying to justify the world by blaming it on those that "don't believe" or are they making excuses because their deity has put them here without a plan of attack or an owners manual and now the world has gone to shit and s/he isn't coming it to "save the righteous"! Maybe we have mucked this world up so badly that "God" doesn't know where to begin and s/he has given up on us and moved to another planet to start over. We haven't exactly done many great things lately and I would be pissed if someone justified killing another human being (or gobs of them for that matter) in my name, because a "just and right" God isn't going to sanctify murder...isn't that one of the rules? Thou shalt not pop a cap in someones ass! I don't think it the non-believers that have caused God to leave us to our own devices. I think it is the ones who do horrible things in his/her name and then try to justify it with their religion.

Why Starbucks is so popular...

Two words....coffee filters! Have you ever been ready to just eat the damn beans because you couldn't get the coffee filters apart? I think that if people didn't have to waste time mucking with trying to get the filters apart, Starbucks would not be nearly as popular. I mean, I can't function well on two cups of coffee...they should know that people are not at their best and brightest before their coffee...hell that is why we have coffee! They need to go back to the drawing board and come up with a way to get the filter ready when coffee is being made by a mindless zombie, cause anyone who drinks coffee as a fifth food group knows that is what we feel like first thing in the morning.
